EDWARD APTED:  LIFE MEMBER SARU, 2002

• Ted commenced his involvement with rugby in South Australia in the 1970’s as an active referee and rugby supporter. 
• Work then took him to Brisbane. 
• During the 1990’s he again took up active refereeing and held the positions of President, Secretary and Appointments Chairman of the SARU Referees Association during that period. 
• He is a current Life Member of the SARU Referees Association. 
• He was first elected to the SARU Management Committee in 1996 where he was appointed Deputy Chairman and acted on a range of sub-committees including the inaugural Adelaide International 7’s Committee in the mid 1990s.
• Elected as a Board Member of the Board of Directors of the South Australian Rugby Union Ltd. in 1999. 
• He was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2002 for his contribution to sport. 
• He has acted as Chairman of the Australian Rugby Shield Committee since 2000 and remains Chairman of that Committee today. 
• Current President of the Old Collegians Rugby Club. 
• Ted has provided several decades of service to the game as well as being a committed devoted worker and is a true friend of the South Australian Rugby Union.

In 2007, Ted was inducted into the SARU's Hall of Fame.
